As the academic year draws to a close, the Green Schools Foundation is proud to celebrate the exemplary dedication and innovation of our teaching staff through our final Spotlight on Staff feature. This initiative highlights the outstanding efforts of educators who are not just teaching but truly making a difference in the lives of students and the broader community. This May, we had the distinct pleasure of recognizing three exceptional teachers at the Board of Education meeting.
Meet Our Honored Educators:
• Mrs. Nicci West serves as the Physical Education teacher at Green Primary School. Her commitment to promoting physical health and well-being is evident in every class she leads. Mrs. West has successfully integrated innovative teaching methods that engage students in active learning while fostering a lifelong love for physical activity. Her programs are not only about fitness but also about instilling teamwork and personal responsibility among her students.
• Mr. Floyd Juszli, who teaches Art at Green High School, specializes in 3D art—a field that demands both creativity and technical skill. Beyond his classroom duties, Mr. Juszli is also the advisor for the Art Club, where he mentors students in extending their artistic passions beyond the conventional curriculum. His dedication to nurturing creative talent has made the Art Club a popular and transformative space for aspiring artists.
• Mr. Mike Owen is known for his rigorous and inspiring approach to teaching AP Chemistry at Green High School. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Mr. Owen leads the GHS Academic Challenge Team, guiding students through complex problem-solving scenarios that enhance their analytical and teamwork skills. His leadership in this role has seen the team rise to local and regional prominence, reflecting his commitment to academic excellence.
